Romanza is the album that launched his career. The 12 selections include "Time to Say Goodbye," Bocelli's spine-tingling #1 single with Sarah Brightman. (66 minutes) From his childhood on the family farm in rural Tuscany to the worldwide stage, Andrea Bocelli has achieved phenomenal success. His singing is only partially the point, and his fame owes much more to the aura of romance and the romantic archetype that's attached to him. Romanza is by far Bocelli's largest success, winning adoration thanks to the swooning vocals and the easy, sometimes lush, always pop-safe instrumental textures and melodies. As far as his opera chops go, Bocelli has won the approval of Pavarotti but likely will not wow enthusiasts. The upside is that Bocelli will likely grow the opera pie, convincing labels to take on more operatic projects. --Andrew Bartlett

Doggystyle is the debut album from American rapper Snoop Dogg, then known as Snoop Doggy Dogg, released by Death Row Records on November 23, 1993. The album was recorded soon following the release of Dr. Dre's landmark debut album The Chronic (1992), to which Snoop Dogg contributed significantly. The style he developed for Dre's album was continued on Doggystyle. Critics have praised Snoop Dogg for the lyrical "realism" he delivers on the album and for his distinctive vocal flow. Despite some mixed criticism of the album initially upon its release, Doggystyle has earned recognition from many music critics as one of the most significant albums of the 1990s, as well as one of the most important hip hop albums ever released. Much like The Chronic, the distinctive sounds of Doggystyle helped introduce the hip hop style of G-funk to a mainstream audience, bringing forward West Coast hip hop as a dominant force in the early 1990s. As of 2008, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified Doggystyle quadruple platinum in sales, and it serves as Snoop Dogg's highest-selling album. Doggystyle debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and sold 802, 858 copies in its first week alone, which was the record for a debuting artist and the fastest-selling hip hop album ever until Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000. Doggystyle is included in The Source magazine's list of the 100 Best Rap Albums, as well as Rolling Stone magazine's list of Essential Recordings of the 90s. About. com placed the album in number 19 of the greatest hip hop/rap albums of all time
Keith Harkin, a twelve-track collection split between classic covers and original compositions, illustrates the artist's skills as both an interpreter and a writer. The album's first single is the bittersweet traveler's plea, Don't Forget About Me, which will be accompanied by a video."I love all music, and a lot of my influences are on this record," says Harkin. "Neil Young, pop, dance, country I love Glen Campbell. I see it like an old-school Elton John record, where he would play rock next to country next to folk. It's quite a broad horizon."Cover versions of rock and pop classics include Van Morrison's Have I Told You Lately That I Love You, featuring a duet with two-time Grammy® Award winner Colbie Caillat, Tom Waits' The Heart Of Saturday Night, Everybody's Talkin', which Harkin mastered at age 13, and a powerful version of Don Henley's The End of the Innocence. In addition to Don't Forget About Me, other self-penned tracks include the gently rolling, heartfelt love song Nothing But You & I, and the yearning ballad, Rosa, which Harkin considers one of the best tracks on the album, adding, the first time I heard the strings added at Abbey Road Studios, I was in tears.Prior to a solo tour of the U.S. in late spring 2013, look for Keith Harkin performing with his band mates in Celtic Thunder in the U.S. and Canada in late summer and fall 2012, and Australia in early spring 2013.
The Tuscan tenor's fourth U.S. release debuted at #1 on the Billboard World Music chart, went double platinum and earned a Grammy(r) nomination. Italian for "dream," Sogno ("sone-yo") features 14 songs of life and love, sung by the world's most beautiful voice. Andrea Bocelli's Sogno ("Dream") is a pop album of entirely original compositions that evoke traditional and modern influences. Bocelli himself describes the CD as secular Italian traditional melodic music with a contemporary twist. The album's 14 tracks include "The Prayer," a Bocelli and Celine Dion duet produced by David Foster; "Come un Fiume Tu," an intriguing collaboration with soundtrack maestro Ennio Morricone; "O Mare e Tu," a duet with Dulce Pontes; and "Sogno" (the first single excerpted from the album), a light-as-a-feather, emotional composition sung by Bocelli with his typical vocal emphasis, which has made him famous around the world since the release of his self-titled debut. --Ernesto De Pascale

No Description Available.Genre: Popular MusicMedia Format: Compact DiskRating: Release Date: 11-NOV-1997 New Age diva Enya first became widely known when her 1988 album Watermark sold 4 million copies and launched the single "Orinoco Flow." Her follow-up, Shepherd Moons, was even more successful, selling over 10 million copies despite its slightly lower grade of ethereal enchantment. In 1997 she released Paint the Sky with Stars, an assortment of her best work from these two early albums plus gems from 1995's The Memory of Trees and the soundtrack to the BBC series The Celts. The most melodic and atmospheric examples of Enya's lovely Celtic-flavored songwriting shine on this disc. Those unfamiliar with the former Clannad member will find charm in such sweet lullabies as "Marble Halls" and "China Roses" while delighting in the more energetic "Book of Days," "Storms in Africa," and "Caribbean Blue." Overall, an outstanding collection from an artist who gives New Age a good name. --Karen Karleski
